An afternoon trip to Aldbury Nowers near Tring. At first I tweeted a couple of pics as female Common Blue but now not so sure. Could they be Brown Argus? Further along the Ridgeway near Pitsone Hill a juvenile Kestrel performed some aerial acrobatics
Looks like you've had a nice run of birds, Sharpy. Regarding the butterflies, the 1st photograph is definitely a Common Blue (underside spot formation). The others are all possible Brown Argus but, to be sure, you'd need to see the underside spot pattern and make sure there are no blue scales on the upperside. If it is of any use, I put together an illustrated guide last year here: http://ow.ly/SFexi
